In a challenged care system it’s vital to make practical improvements that show what good multi-disciplinary working looks like, and generate the hope and evidence that can start to rebuild trust and confidence 

We’re supporting executive and service leaders from all agencies in one safeguarding system to model behaviours that can take ‘heat out of the system’ at such a difficult time, and to use this precious space to quickly implement practical public service reforms, such as improvements to data sharing, communication and joint tasking, that underpin modern contextual safeguarding practice. 

The territorial waters of many small island nations present excellent opportunities for renewable energy generation, but the scale of new infrastructure – which may need to be nearer to shore than in larger nations – can have disproportionate and potentially destabilising impacts on local economic and political systems 

We’re working with a small island nation to design a legal and policy framework to enable rapid progress to ensure that the economic, social and environmental benefits from development are secured for islanders now and into the future. 

Much discussion of Combined Authorities focuses on the scale and nature of devolved powers and governance agreed through negotiation with government. But what might the future hold for these new authorities as they mature beyond these first stages?

We’re researching Combined Authority cultures, structures, relationships and capabilities, and international experience and practice, to explore the different ways in which they might evolve and what the best might look like in the future.
